Clean Energy Workforce Development

Workforce development and training are essential components to a bustling 21st century economy and a cleaner, healthier New York. But today’s workforce is not yet set up to meet the requirements and achieve possibilities of the clean energy economy.

With a commitment of $100 million through 2025, NYSERDA will work to change the landscape of New York’s workforce through clean energy workforce development and training. Our funding will provide opportunities for activities as diverse as:

  • Training building and operations staff to properly operate and maintain building systems
  • Providing on-the-job training for new clean energy workers
  • Supporting internships for students looking to gain hands-on skills at a clean energy company
  • Enhancing curricula to meet the demands of clean energy employers
  • Establishing a talent pipeline that can reduce the business cost of hiring new workers

Funding is available under five different workforce development and training opportunities:

NYSERDA encourages clean energy professionals to participate in training to continuously update their skills and knowledge and recommends that workers considering careers in clean energy learn about different aspects of the industry. A variety of training resources are conveniently available online and on-demand, including many offered at no-cost to participants.
